WHO DARES, WINS
The Belgian Special Forces Group (SF Gp) is the elite unit of Defence, inheriting the traditions of the Belgian 5th SAS from World War II, as well as the ESR-GVP company (Specialised Reconnaissance Teams), consisting of interarm operators (non-para) deployed in support of the divisions, and a detachment of para-commandos deployed in support of the 1st Belgian Corps (1(BE) Corps).

SPECIAL FORCES GROUP
Today, the Special Forces Group, based in Heverlee with a maritime branch in Zeebrugge, is part of the Special Operations Regiment. The integration of the Special Operations Boat Unit strengthens its position within the Belgian Special Forces and enhances its operational capabilities. The SF Gp is ready to be deployed abroad in small teams to areas classified as “sensitive to hostile”, within extremely short timeframes, to carry out special missions with strategic objectives.
